Older systems, honest answers
A lot of Wolfe City septic tanks are 30, 40, sometimes 50 years old. Concrete tanks that age can still be structurally sound, but baffles and inlet tees rot out and let solids escape into the drain field. That is the real failure mode, and it is often fixable without replacing the tank.
New construction and replacements
Full aerobic system with spray disposal is the standard for new installs and most replacements. Rural lots with room to run spray lines actually work in your favor: more disposal area means smaller pumps and lower long term maintenance.
Water conservation matters more up here
On aerobic systems, high daily water use puts extra stress on the whole system. If you have leaky toilets or a well pump that runs a lot at night, fix those before you invest in septic repairs. It will extend the life of everything downstream.
